Experienced animal health technologists are conducting all animal preparation, assisting surgery during angiographic intervention as well as post-procedure care. All cardiac procedures are supervised by a team of experts from the department of multidisciplinary cardiology at the <em>Institut<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/08\/cathlab_information_guide_en_revised20211103.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CathLab Information Guide<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure data-module=\"Figcaption\" class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-chirurgiens-dans-le-cathlab.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7666\" style=\"width:381px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-chirurgiens-dans-le-cathlab.png 1200w, https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-chirurgiens-dans-le-cathlab-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-chirurgiens-dans-le-cathlab-500x333.png 500w, https:\/\/www.iucpq.ca\/app\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-chirurgiens-dans-le-cathlab-768x512.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-stereo-section-bloc section-block-normal\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__container\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__col is-layout-flow wp-block-stereo-section-bloc-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equipment and Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our on-site facility includes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A digital fluoroscopy and angiography system (Philips Azurion 7 C12 with FlexArm).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An ultrasound system equipped with transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography probes (Philips EPIQ 7).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An echocardiographic-fluoroscopic image fusion system (Philips EchoNavigator).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An experimental surgical suite with a preparation room.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Animal housing rooms and facilities for large animals including swine and sheep (capacity of 18 livestock pens).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An access to advanced medical imaging equipment dedicated to research including multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT; Philips 6000 iCT) and 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI; Philips Ingenia).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A possibility of translational application to humans by using the hospital\u2019s hybrid operating room (First-in-Man studies).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our expertise and offered services:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Acute studies&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cardiovascular devices and implants (coronary stents, heart valve devices and systems, heart failure devices, pacemakers and defibrillators)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrophysiology studies (pacemaker, cardiac defibrillator, etc.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multimodal assessment of cardiac and implantable medical device functions (echocardiography, MSCT and MRI)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-stereo-section-bloc section-block-normal -section-alt\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__container\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__col is-layout-flow wp-block-stereo-section-bloc-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every research project at the Institut undergoes scientific and ethical reviews in order to be authorized: any project carried out with animals has to previously receive an ethical approval from the Animal Care Committee of Universit\u00e9 Laval (CPAUL).
