Indeed, according to the World Health Organization, societal chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and cancer, account for 63% of deaths worldwide. Obesity, which has reached the proportions of a global epidemic, is one of the most significant risk factors for these conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-stereo-section-bloc section-block-normal\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__container\"><div class=\"wp-block-stereo-section__col is-layout-flow wp-block-stereo-section-bloc-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Integrated Research Model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The natural alignment between the Institute\u2019s research areas and its clinical missions gives the Centre a unique character, to the great benefit of patients and care recipients. This ongoing synergy between researchers and health care professionals fosters effective knowledge transfer into clinical practice, fully aligned with the visions of the Fonds de recherche du Qu\u00e9bec (FRQ) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research teams fully leverage this strong alignment to deepen the understanding of the metabolic determinants of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, while developing innovative and competitive research rooted in Quebec and focused on prevention and treatment.
