All of our valued partners are listed in the activity report. We wish to single out a few in particular for their significant contributions to our work.
Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) are key granting agencies for researchers. Many of them indeed receive each year grants, awards or fellowships enabling them to advance their research. CIHR funding over the year accounted for $6 M, being 51.6% of the amounts our researchers received from granting agencies recognized by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).
Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS)
The FRQS not only supports the Institute’s Research Centre with its different funding programs, but also offers to its researchers and students some research and training environment that encourages the blossoming of knowledge. Grants and scholarships obtained from FRQS over the year totalled more than $3.08 million.
IUCPQ Foundation
Our Research Centre can also count on the support of the IUCPQ Foundation (LIER: http://www.fondation-iucpq.org/en/home) that made possible, toward contributed funds, the Centre’s expansion phases and finances numerous scholarships as well as several research fellowships and grants. These grants help us in the completion of numerous research projects and provide the leverage needed to obtain outside funding. The Foundation awarded $900,224 over the year 2020 to 47 researchers in the annual research grant competition (including $45,000 from the chair J.-D. Bégin – P.-H. Lavoie). The IUCPQ Foundation also created during this exceptional year a scholarship competition to fund projects related to COVID-19, for a total of $200,000 given to these researchers:
- Dre Jamila Chakir;
- Dr Didier Saey;
- Dr Philippe Pibarot;
- Dre Andréanne Côté;
- Dr Benoît Drolet;
- Dr Mathieu Laplante;
- Dr Ynuk Bossé;
- Dr François Potus.
The IUCPQ Foundation overall was supporting in 2020 more than $1M in research projects.
